I was driven to write this earnest defense* for our beleaguered Senator Leila de Lima as many people, sadly including even many of our anti-administration activists, believe this obviously trumped-up accusation, and a badly-scripted one at that, against this upright and honest lady who as a D.O.J secretary single-handedly charged more big political personalities than all the past D.O.J. secretaries combined! I have already written about the full background of where all these accusations against her started so I will not repeat it here but if you haven’t still read it, it is a must read! please click the link below:

The ‘Matrix’ of Leila de Lima’s Dilemma – the Possible Truth behind her Persecution

Here, you will know how, where and when all these accusations against Ms. de Lima originated…

*Note that the words “defense” and “proof” are meant here in the general sense, not in strictly legal sense.

Her enemies from Senator Lacson, through Sandra Cam, to President Duterte claim that this lady is so politically ambitious that she will do anything, including colluding with drug lords, just to acquire campaign funds for her senatorial bid. Now, could this be true? Let us analyze:

  • First, remember, this is the lady who charged and jailed very popular and powerful political personalities for the P.D.A.F. scam, led by Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada, aka Tanda, Pogi at Sexy. Would a politically ambitious lady do that, turning powerful politicians into her enemies and thereby risking her nascent political career?
  • Secondly, she vigorously pursued the proud Senator Panfilo Lacson for Dacer-Corbito murder case. A former intelligence officer who, according to Winnie Monsod, citing Amnesty International, was an assistant torturer to Col. Rolando Abadilla during martial law:

This man could give anybody who mess with him a big trouble, like the Arroyo’s – where he brought in his double-agent Ador Mawanay to get back at them and Sandra Cam to point an accusing finger at their son Mikey for allegedly receiving jueteng payoff. Again, would an overly ambitious lady have risked antagonizing this powerful & wily senator and put her future political career in jeopardy? (And this is actually what brought upon Senator de Lima this whole predicament she is in today.)

  • Thirdly, she has been fiercely fighting the incumbent President Duterte and his administration. Again, will an ambitious neophyte politician dare to antagonize this supposedly very popular president and risk her political career? And as a proof, this is the reason, the only reason, why she is being illegally detained on trumped-up charges.

Of course, the answer is clear “no” – no politically ambitious person will do what Senator de Lima has done so far. And the fourth part would further prove and solidify this point, her best defense.

 

And now, the best defense for Senator de Lima – the I.N.C case.

Now I will show you that it is far from the truth that Senator Leila de Lima is so awfully ambitious that she would go even as far as to engage in illegal activities for her campaign fund.

Senator de Lima is the only person running for a political position who dared to antagonize Iglesia ni Cristo (I.N.C.), something no other politician has ever dared to do. The reason being that the Iglesia’s have 1.3 million members who vote as one, or simply said, they have 1.3 million votes! This is the reason that almost all politicians shamelessly lick their boots trying to win their votes; praising and thanking them at every possible instance, putting up expensive advertisements congratulating them during all their important occasions, like their anniversaries and the birthdays of their founder or leaders.

So the big question is, will a politically ambitious lady antagonize the I.N.C. and do so just before the start of the election period? Of course not! but that’s exactly what this lady did! Instead of kowtowing to the I.N.C. this upright lady unflinchingly investigated a case of illegal detention and harassment against I.N.C.’s eight top officials thereby drawing the ire of I.N.C. leadership – a case which, because of it’s ambiguous nature, could have easily been dismissed if she wanted to curry favor with them. (As a proof, the case was subsequently dismissed by de Lima’s successor.) She could have easily gotten those 1.3 million votes if she had made a compromise with them, but she did not! Instead this upright lady threw them away just like that.

The fact that she landed 12th in the senate race shows how crucial these votes could have been for her, with the 13th placer, Francis Tolentino, now contesting her win.

Now ask yourselves, is this what a desperately ambitious lady would do – throw away 1.3 million vote?

But on the other hand, for this act, if you recall, Ms. de Lima received accolades from the public, including even some of her critics. So what does this mean? It simply means that Senator Leila de Lima is not the politically ambitious lady that the President and his minions are trying their utter best to project to the public and want us to believe, and so it is very clear that all the accusations against her regarding her involvement in drug operation just for campaign fund is simply not true – they are all fabricated…

And so, as a tribute to this upright lady who has been unjustly maligned and crucified in public for fighting for our rights, I decided to start a new campaign for her – Nobel Peace Prize for Leila de Lima campaign, #NobelPeacePrizeforLeila:
