Urgent Update: the President might be sick, and he is definitely frustrated and tired. Please read the update below.
Thank you my dear readers for making this another world top-trending blog!
Update August 15, 2018
Yesterday, during his speech, the President definitely looked as if he just came back from illness, still weak, with more than usual stuttering when he spoke. I’ve noticed him getting noticeably weaker, and thinner, over the last several months, probably not only because of old age but also because of frustration and the accompanying exhaustion. To bolster my observation, he started talking about retiring again, but this time, with a new twist – he expressed his desire of not allowing his legitimate successor, the vice president, to succeed him – exactly as I predicted a year ago on this blog – suggesting to the military and the police that they should find a better, or more accurately, his acceptable, successor. Believe me or not, he is serious.
I have been holding this view or theory that Sara will succeed him after the next elections or after the charter change. But now, Duterte might not be able to wait or endure physically until that time.
“I have been holding this view or theory that Sara will succeed him after the next elections or after the charter change. But now, Duterte might not be able to wait or endure physically until that time..”
So under the circumstance, it will be a tug-of-war situation between Duterte’s health condition and time. If he can endure for another year, Sara will likely be his successor but if not, there are several likely scenarios to watch out for – next.
The Dangerous Scenarios Ahead
If we follow the normal succession process, it will be the vice president who would succeed the president. But since the President is averse to this process what are the options left for him?
First, he can manipulate the P.E.T. to let Bongbong Marcos steal the vice president seat from our Vice President Leni Robredo.
Second, he can remove Vice President Leni through impeachment or quo warranto and let Senate President Vicente Sotto take over. (Here, it would be easier and surer to remove the Vice President through quo warranto than impeachment.)
Third, instead, with another dubious legal maneuver, like the quo warranto, he might bypass Sotto and let the next-in-line successor, Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo take over, his favored ally.
Fourth, negotiate with Vice President Leni for a graceful exit. But V.P. Leni will never allow herself to be a part of such despicable and traitorous scheme. I have complete trust in her on this.
“…negotiate with Vice President Leni for a graceful exit. But V.P. Leni will never allow herself to be a part of such despicable and traitorous scheme. I have complete trust in her on this.”
Fifth, the “extra-judicial” means of transferring power, like under revolutionary government. Here, the possibilities are limitless so your guess is as good as mine. Again, the name Sara crops up as a possible choice of the President under this scheme. But of course, this process will stand on very shaky legs, with no legal basis for it to stand on; and,
Sixth, in a most desperate move, he might just leave the country and escape to China. Of course, this is the least likely possibility but Chinese officials will probably welcome him, or will they?
So we must be vigilant towards any move the administration might be making in the coming days or months regarding the succession issue. The President might recover again and continue for a while but I think he is quickly reaching his limit. The rigors and the frustrations of the office will be too much for this old man to endure. I mentioned this possibility on my first blog, which I posted on his inauguration day, titled, “The President with Local Government, or Mayor’s, Mentality, How will He Fare? (At that time, nobody imagined that he will turn out to be just a mayor trying to do the work of a president.)
And now, please read my original May 20, 2017 blog below to understand why the administration will, or must, do everything to thwart V.P. Leni from taking the president’s seat. (Please take note that “quo warranto” was almost unheard of at that time.)
* * * * * * * *
When President Duterte failed to attend the inauguration of of One Road One Belt Initiative in China, one of the most important part of the conference where all other leaders including Vladimir Putin of Russia attended for a photo shoot for posterity, there were lots of nasty speculations and rumors that our President might really be sick. Prior to that, there were also lots of rumors circulating on the net about his supposed sickness, especially about his alleged vomiting and collapse on the plane he was riding, but all without any piece of solid evidence to prove them. Is the President really sick. Let us see (next part) and you be the judge.
The Real Evidence that the President Might Really be Sick
I saw this photo (lower one) just this morning (May 20, 2017) on a local newspaper and decided to look for it on the net and instead, I found two of them. These are the photos of his latest activity taken just yesterday – his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony of San Miguel Foundation’s housing project in Davao City. So what’s wrong with the photos? Unlike the usual, he is sitting as he speaks at the event! which could only mean that the President has difficulty standing up at the least or that there is something seriously wrong with his physical condition at the worst. So does this mean that he might be sick? Yes, but how seriously? your guess is as good as mine. If indeed he is seriously sick as the rumors have it, then definitely he won’t be able to continue his presidency for long and he will have to give up his seat to his rightful successor, the Vice President – no other than our beloved Leni Robredo – when his condition gets worse…
“If indeed he is seriously sick as the rumors have it, then definitely he won’t be able to continue his presidency for long and he will have to give up his seat to his rightful successor, the Vice President – no other than our beloved Leni Robredo – when his condition gets worse…”
Let us Welcome our new President Leni Robredo!
Now we’re right here with the real possibility that indeed V.P. Leni might be our president sooner or later. But wait, will Duterte and his people allow this to happen? Think of what might happen to Duterte, with all the possible cases hanging over his neck, including a possible case at International Criminal Court (I.C.C.). And think also of all the mayabang inglorious basterds in the administration, like Vit Aguirre, Sal Panelo, Peter “pinocchio” Cayetano when Leni becomes the president – they will all lose their dear jobs!

Will they allow that? Of course not.
And in congress and senate, there will be a huge disorder and re-shuffling accompanied by the the usual balimbing or shameless party-hopping activities. Again, will the administration politicians who controls both houses now allow that to happen without putting up a fight? I think not.
The Danger of Losing our Vice Presidency
If indeed all what I’ve said here come true, we – the opposition and their supporters – are in danger of losing our vice president seat – now held under the firm grip of Leni Robredo. The administration will do anything and everything, just like what they did to Senator Leila de Lima, to prevent the presidency from going into the hands of their hated opposition, not because of anything else but because they will do their utmost best to save their necks and to hang on to their dear jobs. Likewise in congress and senate the majority bloc will do everything to maintain the status quo which simply means that they will do everything to prevent the present opposition, led by the Liberal Party, to take over the majority, which will be a near impossible task when the administration goes into the hands of the opposition. So watch out and let us be vigilant against any effort to oust our beloved V.P. Leni from her vice president seat. Our next battleground will be the Congress and the Senate – let’s keep our eyes on any impeachment move, or the P.E.T. – Presidential Electoral Tribunal – where there might be another desperate and despicable attempt to oust our beloved Vice President… #protectVPLeni
